The Mundane With Chris & Dave

Things aren’t as mundane as they seem; two best friends see how and why. | Theme tune by Niall Murray | Graphic Design by Lauren Hand |

We are just two best friends who met in the Midlands and now, somehow, live at opposite ends of the country. We adore looking into stuff more than most and want to give every little thing its day, where we don't get distracted that is...But we love each other, and we love you for giving our podcast a go!

Also sorry that this picture is terrible, but we found it funny.

Chris & Dave are going on a summer holiday so they recorded this mess of a minisode to announce that.
The chaos perfectly shows we definitely need a summer holiday. Literally at one point Dave's alarm even goes off midway through, and somehow it felt apt for what this fun mess is.
Make sure you take a break too, I think that was what was meant to be the point.
We'll be back on the next Mundane Monday on September 7th!

Dave & Chris relish the opportunity to look into that squirty red stuff that everyone probably has in their fridge and reveal why ketchup wasn't always tomato sauce.
They also look at how the blood of tomatoes became so ubiquitous to the western diet, different coloured sauces, how many varieties Heinz actually started with, as well as why their friend James won't have any of it.

Chris & Dave talk about the stuff that goes in your ear that isn't our voices, but definitely shouldn't go in there.
Whether you call them cotton buds, cotton swabs, Q-tips or Baby Gays this episode covers all of them as they are the same thing.
It then inevitably falls into Chris' eargasm addiction, famous school rumours and, of course, tuberculosis.
We also find out what the Q in Q-tip stands for!

Dave & Chris make a racquet by taking the small yellow Wimbledon balls and discovering the very unexpected influence David Attenborough had on them.
They also find out why love is zero, how it feels to have one in your pocket and what bagels are.
As standard, the long rally descends into a chat about sport small talk, snooker, football and golf because these boys are definitely 100% sports people who watch sport all the time. #sports

Chris & Dave doodle along with mouth words instead of ink shapes about a miracle of modern engineering that you definitely own at least one of: the common household ballpoint pen.
As well as the fascinating history of that balltipped inker, we cover birthday cards, LEAKS, lids, and even tips on how to make your tiny ball tipped writers work again. PLUS SPACE PENS.
We also include a bonus ASMR-lite pen twisting and clicking section for all you twistyclicky freaks out there.
You can witness the pens we click on YouTube and Spotify.

Dave & Chris can't stop opening their mouths, but you already know that. This time they are doing that tired (or scared?!) thing when they do it, and it turns out that nobody can agree WHY we do it.
We share some theories, some rhymes, then somehow dive into hiccups, salt poisoning, and the reliability of Japanese trains.
